Music at Gethsemane

Music has always played an important role in the worship life of the church.  At Gethsemane, we seek to provide a wide range of musical styles from a broad assortment of groups.  We are  blessed with these groups: 

Adult Choir – ranging in age from Junior High to Adults and led by our Director of Music, this group meets at 9:30 Sunday mornings for rehearsal and provides musical leadership to the Sunday morning service  (September – May).

Praise Band – this group of volunteers meets every Tuesday night from 7:00 -9:00 PM to rehearse.  They provide musical leadership at our more contemporary service the second Sunday of each month.  They also have provided music for outdoor services and special events.

Church School Music – our Director of Music leads our church school children in 10-15 minutes of singing at the beginning of church school time.  Many of these songs have been accompanied by hand motions or other movement.  Children  share their music in the worship service occasionally.

Christian Education For All:

Each Sunday the children in kindergarten through grade 5 gather for church school beginning at 9:15 in the sanctuary for music with me and then go to class in the Fellowship Hall with Sherry Crandall.  The youth in grades 6 through 12 gather in the library for class with Carl Crandall and the adults have bible study in Marci’s office from 9:15 - 10:15.  We have on-call staff for the childcare room for younger children during the morning, so please let me know if you wish to use them.

 

Singer and Bell Ringer Alert!!

Sundays in March, April, May:  Choir rehearsals at 9:30 am and sing in worship (excluding

March 14th & April 18th).

 

Saturday, March 27:  1-3:00 pm  Children and adult choir rehearse for Palm Sunday 

(12:30 light lunch served)

 

Sunday, March 28: Special Palm Sunday cantata presented in worship by

children/adult choir.

 

Friday, April 2:  7:00 pm - Choir Sings for Good Friday Service.  (Arrive by 6:30)

 

Sunday, April 4th:  7:00 am Sunrise Service - Praise Band sings and plays.

10:30 am service - Children and adult choir participate.

 

Musician Alert!!

Special Music instrumentalists and singers are wanted for summer worship.  Please share your musical gifts with our congregation one Sunday this summer.  Talk to me about a date that you are available to sing or play.
